Regular eye examinations are
vital for healthy eyes

An eye examination at our practice covers much more than making sure you have the right prescription. We monitor the health of your eyes for possible problems such as macular degeneration, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma and raised blood pressure. We also welcome any questions you may have about looking after your vision.

Keeping your eyesight in the best possible condition also depends on making sure you have the right lenses for your needs. In recent years, there have been important developments in lens technology which can improve your vision and make your glasses or contact lenses more comfortable to wear.

Retinal Scan

Your optometrist may recommend taking photos of the inside of your eyes, particularly if there is anything unusual noted during the eye examination. When there is a family history of glaucoma and macular degeneration, photos are a good way of benchmarking retinal health for future reference.

Photos are an essential tool in monitoring and co-management of patients with eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy. Very early changes in the retina, with no symptoms to the patient can alert the practitioner to potential problems with early intervention and can save sight.

Computerised Visual Field Test

Visual field test is an optic nerve function analysis test that maps out the individual eye real field of view. Often subtle field loss in early stages of eye diseases can only be detected by visual field test with no impact on vision at the beginning. This is particularly important for picking early field loss in eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. This test can even detect field loss linked to neurological problems such as pituitary tumour or brain tumour.

Kids Vision

Most children are born with healthy eyes, but in the process of growing up there may be some changes in the development of their visual systems.

In school, children need to see and learn from what is written on the whiteboard. If your child is struggling to read or finding it difficult to remain on task, the cause may be an undetected vision problem.

It is always a good idea to have a first eye examination for your child before they start Year one.

  • First visit to trial fit the contact lenses.
  • Second visit to learn how to handle the contact lenses in and out of the eyes.
  • Third visit for aftercare to make everything is going well.

Computer Vision

In our modern society, electronic gadgets are increasingly overtaking every aspects of our life. Eye strain, blur vision and headaches are common symptoms of excessive screen work or desk work.

Eye fatigue can be easily manage by better visual hygiene and computer glasses. Don't put up with eye strain anymore!
